Mesh Stencilling: LUSTRE DUST PAINT ON SWISS MERINGUE BUTTERCREAM

by @gracefulpastries

For this cake design I have applied the Indigo Mesh Stencil with a lustre dust paint on Swiss meringue buttercream to achieve this beautiful effect.

I started by applying a smooth coat of buttercream, and let it chill in the refrigerator for a minimum of 30 minutes so that the buttercream is nice and solid.

I then ran the mesh stencil under cold running water, then laid it flat onto a paper towel and dabbed it with another paper towel to dry off any excess water. This step will help adhere the stencil to the cake making it easier to apply the color to the stencil while on the cake.  I actually used an edible gold dust mixed with some vodka to paint over the stencil. It’s much easier to apply than stencilling with SMBC.
